Restore the Wonder of Truth

Restore the Wonder of Truth

“The function of imagination is not to make strange things settled, so much to make settled things strange; not so much to make wonders facts, as to make facts wonders.”

–G.K. Chesterton

Let’s be honest: 2 + 2 = 4 seems boring.

That fact has been settled for eons, thus it’s become commonplace . . . and taken for granted.

From Gravity to Gender, from the Imago Dei to Marriage, from Chemistry to Calculus, from H2O to John 3:16, or from Heaven to Hell—such Facts & Truths are forever settled.

And they’ve often lost their sheen of wonder.

For our imaginations are now anemic.

This need not be.

Facts & Truths originate from GOD.

Thus they inherently palpitate with wonder, for they derive from the Divine.

And the Divine is strange, and alien, in a glorious, resounding, otherworldly way.

In contrast, people attempting to make strange things settled—and to treat them as Facts & Truths or as Normative—invites heresy, cripples civilizations, and abets the Author of Confusion: Satan (and so we pull and cast them down).

Pastors, teachers, parents —-> Pray the HOLY SPIRIT aids you in putting a fresh coat of paint on Facts, Truths, and Orthodoxy.

Your flock, your students, and your children need their imaginations awakened afresh.

Renew your mind.

Revive your own GOD-infused gift of IMAGINATION, and make settled things seem strange again, brimming with WONDER (for they arrive from a different universe, after all).

2 + 2 = 4 is actually revelatory, strange, magical . . . and altogether wondrous.

“People have fallen into a foolish habit of speaking of orthodoxy as something heavy, humdrum, and safe.

There never was anything so perilous or so exciting as orthodoxy.”

—G.K. Chesterton in Orthodoxy

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

‭‭—2 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God.”

‭‭—Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬
