Non-woke Bible Teaching

Defining Woke

A worldview that groups people as oppressor or oppressed and focuses on the power dynamics between them. It teaches people to wake up to their group identity by adding up their marginalized characteristics like sex, gender, race, age, and ability. Its goals are increasingly viewed as the means to save the earth and humanity by liberating the oppressed group with political action against ideas, beliefs, and systems that promote or maintain the status quo.

  1. Issue 1: Orthodox Biblical truth is viewed as a way to maintain power
  2. Issue 2: Reason is viewed as a cloaked attempt to oppress other ways of "knowing"
  3. Issue 3: Sin is redefined as a power mis-match between two unequal parties
  4. Issue 4: Jesus is reduced to the figurehead of political liberation
  5. Issue 5: Political inaction is viewed as an act of violence
  6. Issue 6: Atonement is undermined and redefined
  7. Issue 7: A utopian future is possible through human political means

About

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ,

His only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit

and born of the virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended to hell.

The third day he rose again from the dead.

He ascended to heaven

and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.

From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy christian church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen.
